What an artist is?
“What do you think an artist is? An imbecile who has only eyes if he’s a painter, or ears if he’s a musician, or a lyre at every level of his heart if he’s a poet, or even if he’s a boxer, just his muscles? On the contrary, he is at the same time a political being, constantly alive to heartrending, fiery, or happy events, to which he responds in every way”
Pablo Picasso
Art: a sensitive response to life
This inspiring quote by P. Picasso encourages us to view artists and their works from a deeper, dynamic, human perspective. In a way, it seems to be an insightful analysis of the artists’ motivation behind artistic creation. It implies that art, in its genuine expression, is a sensitive (political) response to life. A response linked with events and situations that really matter to humans as well as with deep emotional experiences.
Culture for better understanding and personal development
Under this perspective, art can offer more than merely entertain us or temporarily bring harmony and peace to our souls. Given that art affects us on a profound personal level, we can assume that it has the power to illuminate things that are important or even vital to us, both on a physical and a psychological level. It is, therefore, possible that art can function as an opportunity to explore the human condition, and through our response to artistic works—thoughts, feelings, and emotions triggered by them—we may identify unknown or hidden aspects of ourselves.
The role of culture and arts on SHARE Lv
SHARE LV is an information and advice community on human behavior, interaction, and communication. SHARE’S LV goal is to stress important aspects of human functioning, motives, and development, and to help people gain better insight regarding their inner self, and their behavior.
Our aim is to create an environment of quality and enlightenment. We do that by encouraging people to interact with each other, share their thoughts and feelings about critical matters, and exchange ideas. Through such a process, people can discover new paths of thought and action, not accessible otherwise.
At the same time, we believe that the spiritual creations of the arts – and sciences – encompass the vision of beauty and fulfillment and therefore can help us shape our dreams and identify our core values.
What do we do?
For that reason, we would like to offer our members selected pieces of all forms of art – as well as humanities -, and at the same time, a brief and intelligent analysis of those pieces. By doing so, we aspire to remove obstacles to understanding and to a more meaningful and personal connection with them. Analysis can make even more pleasurable contact with the work of great artists and thinkers. They have done most to show us their views on what it is to be human and to make sense of our world.
